Mrisi

Pianist, rapper, singer and producer Mrisi is a multifaceted artist who showcases a varied musical background and a sensitivity to music which results in tracks with substance.

The development of his music unifies his heritage and areas of influence. A South African musician father and English poet mother have made musicality and lyricism part of his upbringing and the diversity is evident in his sound. Sounds from traditional South African riddims to Jazz piano and grass roots Hip Hop which can be heard alongside gritty British narrative, drill and house. He fuses evocative sounds of South Africa and his ancestral language Shangaan Tsonga, with current British rap, poetry and stories that range from immigration to ‘black lives matter’ to conflicts of identity.
