Wyld Experiences is a nature connection concept created by mothers, for mothers. We meet as our ancestors did, around a fire, connecting with other mums in our community. It provides a sense of connection to the earth, opportunities to listen to one another, time to create, craft and share stories as well as experiences, as a community raising children together.
While festivals often cater to older children, we recognise the need for a supportive space for parents with young children. Wyld Experiences aims to bridge this gap, offering a unique blend of nature connection, community building, and creative expression for mothers and their little ones.
As a female-led company using only qualified forest school leaders, we believe in teaching essential life skills in a way that transcends traditional survival techniques, focusing instead on the art of “thrival” – thriving in our surroundings with grace, resilience, and a deep connection to nature.
Our weekly meetings in Sussex provide a haven for mothers with new babies, a place to sit, sip tea, and be immersed in the outdoors. We bring the Wyld Experiences concept to life, fostering connections among mothers and nature.
Wyld Experiences encourages outdoor exploration and learning. We teach children and adults about nature, crafts and general outdoor activities, so they then have the confidence to take these skills home as well as combine them with their overall personal development.
We believe in a right to play, access to the outdoors, exploration of risk and encouragement to play outside of comfort zones; for all ages.
Nature Mobile Making: Friday 3 – 5pm – limited spaces – book your place with the Hive crew
A chance to take part in a nature craft with your baby, taking away a beautifully crafted natural mobile for your baby.
We use foraged sticks, twigs, and other materials to create a hanging mobile inspired and created with nature.
Natural Sensory Playdough: Saturday 1 – 3pm – limited spaces – book your place with the Hive crew
This workshop offers a hands-on, sensory-rich experience for children and adults to create playdough using simple ingredients: flour, water, salt, and vegetable oil. Participants mix their own dough and can then use natural objects like sticks, stones, leaves, and feathers to create imaginative creatures.
We will explore adding scents with essential oils, herbs, or citrus zest, and colouring the dough with natural dyes from sources such as red cabbage and beetroot. This engaging activity fosters creativity and a connection to nature, suitable for all ages.
Tree of Life Storytelling Workshop: Sunday 12 – 2pm – limited spaces – book your place with the Hive crew
Bringing our unique Creative Writing Workshops to the festival, inviting the community to collaborate in crafting a story that resonates with the shared experiences of parenthood.
There will be some writing prompts available for people to add parts of their story to a tree. Children will also be invited to draw or write on paper to add to the tree.
The tree will have several areas where people can write their story to add to the collaborative story. This can be in drawing, a word, a poem or a sentence. The story is open to the interpretation of those telling their story.
The aim of the workshop is to bring people together in conversation and bring everyone’s stories together. People can add to each element, just one element or a small selection of them.
